Andrea Aguirre - Tompkins County
Andrea Aguirre, Senior Planner/Energy Specialist with the Tompkins County Department of Planning and Sustainability, is currently leading the Department’s Business Energy Advisors (BEA) Program. The BEA program advises business owners in the process of evaluating energy efficiency and renewable energy options for new construction, renovation, and expansion projects.
Andrea obtained a B.S. (2010) in Environmental Engineering from Southern Methodist University (SMU), a M.S. (2014) from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Cornell University, and Ph.D. (2018) in Geological Sciences at Cornell University. Andrea’s Ph.D. dissertation focused on systems engineering modeling of geothermal heat pumps for nationwide application in cooling cellular tower shelters and for sustainable neighborhood design.
