Kelly Smith-Frank
NABCEP Certified Solar Installation Professional
Kelly holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and is a NABCEP Certified Solar Installation Professional. Her passion is to see sustainable technologies like solar and heat pumps create economic opportunities for people even as they mitigate climate change.
Kelly lives in the Town of Horseheads in Chemung County with her husband, Quinton, and their cat. She has lived in this region since 2011, when she moved to Ithaca to join a small wind turbine company where she participated in building, testing and improving wind turbines. In 2015, Kelly transitioned to designing solar PV systems. She has designed residential PV systems, large commercial solar arrays, community solar farms, and today focuses primarily on utility-scale solar power plants.
Kelly has been an avid gardener since her college days. She gardened at the Ithaca Community Gardens for a few years while living in Ithaca, and currently enjoys replacing grass patches with vegetables, flowers, and clover at her home in Horseheads. She also enjoys DIY projects, learning about history, and attempting to cook various ethnic cuisines. She plans to retire happily around the time we reach Net Zero.
