Lisa Marshall is from Horseheads, New York where she lives with her husband, a retired Navy pilot, and their three children. Lisa's primary interest is in promoting and supporting the development of healthy, resilient, connected communities.
Before joining the HeatSmart team, Lisa worked as a community organizer for Mothers Out Front, a climate change advocacy group dedicated to empowering mothers and allies to organize locally to effect better climate policy. Through her work at Mothers Out Front, Lisa supported local campaigns in five NY counties and became involved in coalition building and influencing New York State climate and energy policy.
Lisa's long-standing interest in climate change began decades ago when she wrote her first school paper on global warming. In graduate school, her research in soil biogeochemistry looked at desertification of grasslands. It wasn't until moving to the Southern Tier and buying a home that was leased to a gas company, that she became directly involved in climate and energy advocacy.
Lisa's other interests include knitting, quilting, singing, hiking and skiing. Lisa holds an M.S. in Earth Science from Dartmouth College and a B.A. in Geology from Claremont McKenna College.
