Rick Darfler - Town of Ulysses

 2002-2004 -Tompkins Cortland Community College 
Project Manager for three year HVAC replacement project for the main campus in Dryden

2004-2017 -Franziska Racker Centers Director of Facilities
-Projects at FRC included:
-Partnership with Tompkins Community Action (TCA), NYSHCR and US DOE for installation of thermal solar panels at six group homes in Tompkins County
-Partnership with NYSHCR Weatherization Assistance Program agencies in four counties including TCA (Tompkins Co.), CAPCO (Cortland Co.) and TiogaOpps (Tioga Co.) to weatherize and air seal 20 existing older group homes.
-Built new group residence in Lansing that achieved NHAB Silver status and US DOE Energy Star rating.
-Project managed year long renovation of, and additions to, preschool and office building on Wilkins Rd, Trumansburg, including complete HVAC replacement gas heat with electric VRV ASHP system along with a building energy recovery ventilation system as designed by TAITEM Engineering, Ithaca. Changes resulted in a 20% reduction in total heating BTU/sf (including new additions) and 33% reduction in GPD water use. Received "Sign of Sustainability" from Sustainable Tompkins
-Partnership with Solar Liberty to install leased solar array on Wilkins Rd. administration building
-Partner with NYSEG and NIMO to replace florescent and incandescent lighting with LEDs in entire Wilkins Rd, Trumansburg building, Cortland pre-school and office building and Signworks Building office space in Ithaca.

2017-2018 -Built 1,800sf all electric Net Zero residence in the Village of Trumansburg for personal use. The building achieves NYSERDA Low-rise Construction incentive program Tier 3 level, US DOE Energy Star rating and a blower door test of >0.6 ACH50. 
 
Currently working with Ulysses Philomathic Library Board to further sustainability goals and reduce use of fossil fuel in addition to working with Trumansburg Village Board to change heating from fracked natural gas to ASHP heating and cooling.
