Steps for Getting HeatSmart

  1. Attend a community presentation!
  2. Enroll in the HeatSmart program.
  3. Get a home energy assessment and service quote from one of our Installer Partners.
  4. Choose the service(s) you want and sign a contract (you can opt for home insulation/air-sealing improvements and/or a heat pump system).
  5. Organize and track your home energy improvement project and the information you should receive from your Installer Partner with our HeatSmart Enrollee Checklist.
  6. Get work done before winter arrives or through next spring.
  7. Enjoy the comfort and cost savings, and make a positive environmental impact!

Steps Taken with Your Installer Partner

Typically, after you contact an installer, the next steps to expect are...
  1. Installer will contact you back, and get a few additional pieces of information.
  2. They will schedule a no-cost, no-obligation visit, and walk you through one or more quotes concerning the heat pump and smart insulation options for your home.
  3. You review the physical options, your ability to use the tax credits, and the different financing choices (upfront purchase, low-interest loan, or incentives and/or tax credits)
  4. If an option makes sense, you decide to move forward, and the Installer completes the paperwork to lock in your incentives and contract.
  5. You are added to the Installer's construction schedule, and they complete all of the project engineering, permitting, and financing paperwork.
  6. You review the HeatSmart Enrollee checklist to ensure you receive the information entitled to you by your Installer.
  7. Your project is installed, and you start meeting your needs with a smarter more efficient home and often start saving money immediately.
  8. Don't forget to encourage others to join!
